Temenos Golf Club to Host The Second Annual Central Christian School Charity Golf Tournament In attempting to keep the momentum going after a very successful charity golf tournament last year, the administrators and organizers of the Central Christian School are once again being supported by the Temenos Golf Club. The main reason for this event is to raise funds that will go towards a new school building that will be located in Caul’s Bottom. With 164 children currently enrolled in both the pre-school and primary school, it is constantly tough to turn away children who wish to be students at the acclaimed school which uses a Christian-based curriculum and methodology. Last year, the participation of more than 120 golfers helped raise USD $57,000 through the tournament which also marked the very first event ever held at the new world-class golf destination. Three of the organizers spoke with The Anguillian in greater detail about the event, the school and the plans for the new building. Pastor Cecil Richardson, Rhon Connor, Janine Edwards and Rosanna Browne-Harrigan were all very excited about the event and were anxious to create awareness and get golfers signed up. At the moment the organizing committee is seeking sponsorship for the event. There are three levels available; Platinum, Gold and Silver. Last year’s event was highly successful and received a great deal of support. Mr. Connor explained the cost per person is USD $250 and it includes breakfast, lunch, one round of golf, golf cart use, beverages, and use of clubs. Mrs. Edwards mentioned that the winners will receive trophies and cash prizes for a hole in one. There will also be a silent auction at the event in which people can bid on hotel stays, airline tickets, spa treatments and restaurant dinners. The tournament will be on April 26, approximately one month after a ground breaking ceremony to begin construction on the school. It will begin at 9:30am with a shotgun start. The organizers are urging all golfers and golf associations from both Anguilla and St. Martin to get involved. The event is open to all amateurs and professionals alike. -Jason Allen |
